PET ACTIVITIES IN SCHOOLS ON HOLD




UPDATE ON THE PEER EDUCATORS TRAINING (PET) ACTIVITIES
The current national strike embarked upon by the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) in its struggle for the implementation of the new teachers salary scale has in a way brought a reverse on the progress in the activities of the PET members recorded in the last few weeks.
By the end of June most of the batch A stream II, PET members had commence the Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Project at various Secondary Schools across Kwara State.
ART and FIRE with code number KW/08A/1172 and KW/08A/1564 respectively, flagged off with a film show titled YELLOW CARD @ PLAYFAIR MEMORIAL COLLEGE, ORO-AGO, IFELODUN L.G.A. At the end of the film show most of the students got "born again" with the message of ABSTINENCE.
Lafiaji, the capital town of EDU L.G.A. had a feel of the initiative with the PET members UCHE and G-BOY, NIKKY and ONYI kick start on the 16th and 23rd June at the GOVERNMENT DAY SECONDARY SCHOOL and GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOL respectively.
NIKKY, ONYI, UCHE and G-BOY were invited by the Rotaract Club of College of Education (Technical) Lafiaji on the 20th of June, 08 tagged: BELIEFS, MODE OF TRANSMISSION, and SIGNS / SYMTOMS & THE PREVENTION OF HIV/AIDS. It was a success!
RAPHAEL and IT started the training at TAOHEED SECONDARY SCHOOL, BASIN, on the 19th of June, 2008.
