A LESSON FROM MY DAD

As the passing out parade for the 2007 Batch B corp members draws near, I have been contemplating of what to share with them. At a time like this I would love to draw from the wealth of knowledge I had tapped from my dad. As a framer he usually relates his statement to farming life in a way to buttress his point. The common one of such which has been a beacon of which I live my life is…
“The symbiosis between a plant and the insect that fertilizes it
is inestimable. The plant can not do away with the insect in
reproduction. It’s absolutely sacrosanct! So also is SUCCESS
in life is inextricable to our CHARACTER and attitudes towards
fellow man.”
My fellow corp members, I want you to know that your character is a seed you sow into your future. Treat the corper next door good cos you can never tell where you will meet again in and outside the shore of Nigeria. True success in life is attached to your character. JUST BE GOOD!

WHO DESERVE TO BE ON THE PAGES OF OUR NEWSPAPER?....Find out...

WHO DESERVE TO BE ON THE PAGES OF OUR NEWSPAPER?
Have you flip through the national newspaper recently? Often times what you read are the occurrences of catastrophe, series of corruption stories, Owanbes photographs and many more. Amazing thing is that you least read about the exploit of the corp members, our heroes making magnitude differences far away in our hamlets and villages, even towns across the nation of Nigeria. Corp members whose little impact has been of great relevance to the development of their communities but gone unnoticed.
I have met with such individuals, fellow corp members whose input at their various communities has been of an encouragement and inspiration to me. They deserved being given encomium and I felt obligated to unveil them on this page.
My last expedition to Lafiagi, Edu L.G.A. made it possible for me to witness some of their activities and interacted in-depth on their exploit in their place of assignment and the community at large. Most of the schools especially in the rural areas are short of teachers. Often time it is the corp members that suffer the lot. Typical example is of TJ among many others who took the burden upon himself to organize extra teaching class after school hours for the student without pay. When he was asked what gives him the strength to continue in such selfless sacrifice he got this to say,” This has been borne out my passion to help the less privilege. Their education has been poor and I strive for their improvement academically.
Thank God for the opportunity to contribute something positive to my generation and a life time impact which I must confess that the NYSC SCHEME made it possible.

Activities of the PET members (Peer Educator Trainer) should not go unnoticed. They help spread the news of the menace of the HIV/AIDS, advocate for ABSTINENCE, and educate on Adolescence Reproductive Health in our secondary schools. The important of this initiative is not just to help them being exposed to Sex Education but reduces the chances of the girl child being impregnated at a tender age which often times mar their educational career in life. Take for example the statistic of the male and female corp members we have across the nation to the numbers of male and female students in our secondary schools.

I will like to appreciate and applaud the Christian Corpers under the umbrella of the NCCF for their selfless service to humanity and the nation through the RURAL RUGGED OUTREACH. They endure a lot to reach out to the nook and crannies of the country to give free medication and health care, social services, love to mention just few.Thank you!

THE JOURNEY SO FAR...

THE JOURNEY SO FAR…
Fulfillment in life comes with amount of ones input into life, things we are able to do to change the course of events. Today, when I take inventory of my life, I see to it that I will still have to give more to really make a formidable difference, an indelible impact and affect my generation positively.

I hope as I continue in my course to answer the clarion call to service my father land my life shall count, and every corp members that comes my path would have good account of me to give. http://www.ajuwayaessence.blogspot.com/ is one of the medium I intends to achieve this and one day I pray I achieve the dream of making it a national update of NYSC experience.

For this far I’ve gone I want to thank God for He has been faithful. I’ve been able to live above my challenges only by His grace. The setbacks are enormous, imagine the countless sleepless night in an overcrowded cyber café (you feel me?), I lost the effectiveness of my cameral, finance and more. My creative endeavour could have been marred if not for my passion for the art of photography, creative writing and my love for the ajuwaya experience.

I just love this family of ajuwaya, and I just want to unveil the significance development this scheme has brought to our community since its inception in 1973. Need I remind you that virtually every year our dailies devotes quite number of columns to what’s going on in the entertainment world and sport? By contrast, less are revealed in the national media of the positive exploits of the corp members and how the scheme NYSC has brought about national development far away across the villages and towns; and help strengthen the bond among the vast ethnic groups the nation is endowed with.

I have provided with this page a veritable medium for corp members to publicize their activities and to vent their views not as to portray the scheme in bad light. The essence of this platform is to share with the world of the
- NYSC testimonies
- Personal NYSC experience of serving corp members as a beacon to incoming ones.
- PET (Peer Educator Trainers) activities
- NYSC community development project and other events.

As you read my posts I request for your insightful advice, suggestions and what have you. Thank you.

Ride with me!
